Albert Amoah Reflects on Painful Kotoko Exit as He Returns on Loan
Asante Kotoko forward Albert Amoah has spoken candidly about the emotional toll of leaving the club earlier in the season, describing his departure as one of the most difficult moments of his career.
The 25-year-old striker moved to Libyan side Al Ahly Benghazi shortly after Kotoko’s early exit from the CAF Confederation Cup, a campaign that ended abruptly with a heavy defeat to Moroccan powerhouse Wydad Athletic Club in the second preliminary round.
Now back at the Kumasi-based club on a loan deal until the end of the season, Amoah has reflected on that period, admitting he struggled to process the situation at the time.
“It was difficult leaving, especially because of how it ended in Morocco. I didn’t even know how to respond to messages,” he said in an interview with the club’s media team.
Despite the setback, Amoah says the continued support from the Kotoko faithful has reignited his motivation and sense of responsibility as he looks to make an impact during his second spell.
“Knowing that so many fans are counting on me has given me a huge boost, and I hope to repay their faith,” Amoah added.
The striker is expected to be in contention for selection when Asante Kotoko host Berekum Chelsea at the Baba Yara Stadium in their Matchday 20 Ghana Premier League fixture.
