Abdul Karim Zito Relishes Narrow Victory as Kotoko Edge Aduana Stars
Interim head coach of Asante Kotoko, Abdul Karim Zito, expressed his excitement after overseeing a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Aduana Stars in their Ghana Premier League Week 29 clash on Sunday evening.
The Porcupine Warriors secured all three points at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium thanks to a solitary strike from forward Kwame Opoku, who converted a crucial chance to keep Kotoko’s title hopes alive.
Speaking in a post-match interview, Coach Zito admitted the match had been physically demanding but praised his team’s resilience and emphasis on finishing, which ultimately made the difference.
“We worked a little bit with endurance, but the talking was too much, and then I did a lot of finishing. Almost every day I do finishing because at the end of the day, if you don’t shoot, you can’t score. I’m very happy that at least we got one goal out of what we did,” Zito said.
The win marks a significant turnaround for Kotoko, who had faced challenges in recent weeks, slipping from the summit of the table.
Following the result, Asante Kotoko remains firmly in the race for the Premier League crown but must maintain consistency and secure wins in their remaining fixtures to reclaim the top spot.
