Ibrahim Tanko Delighted After Dominant Win Over Young Apostles
Head coach of Medeama Sporting Club, Ibrahim Tanko, expressed his satisfaction on Saturday after his team secured an emphatic 3-0 victory over Young Apostles in their Ghana Premier League encounter.
The comprehensive win at the Akoon Park marked a crucial turnaround for Medeama, ending a two-game losing streak that had threatened to derail their campaign.
Speaking in his post-match interview, Coach Ibrahim Tanko praised his players for their excellent first-half performance, which ultimately set the tone for the triumph.
“We had a fantastic first half in terms of ball possession, chance creation and converting the chances to score,” Tanko noted. “In the second half, we had to score, but they relaxed because of the big lead.”
Despite lamenting the team’s more relaxed approach in the second half, Tanko remained pleased with the overall outcome, particularly highlighting the importance of keeping a clean sheet.
“In all, I’m satisfied with the three points and the fact that we kept a clean sheet,” he added.
The result sees Medeama climb to fifth place on the Ghana Premier League table with 44 points from 29 matches, strengthening their push for a strong finish to the season. Meanwhile, Young Apostles, who continue to struggle in their debut top-flight campaign, dropped to 13th place, facing a tough fight to secure their Premier League status.
