Head coach of Asante Kotoko, Abdul Karim Zito, has declared that his team is determined to end their winless run against Nations FC when the two Ashanti-based sides meet in Week 5 of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League.

The Porcupine Warriors are yet to record a victory over Nations FC in their previous four league encounters, having lost both fixtures during the 2024/25 season by a 2-0 scoreline.

Speaking to AKSC Media ahead of Saturday’s crucial fixture, Coach Zito emphasized that his players are fully focused on breaking that disappointing record and pushing forward with their title ambitions.

“I have said it before, Kotoko doesn’t need any other position aside from winning the league. We have set the target of winning the league, and any opponent we are going to meet, we will go all out to win. If it turns the other way, it’s part of the game. So that’s our mentality,” he stated.

The former national youth team coach further stressed the importance of this particular matchup, describing it as a chance for Kotoko to make a statement.

“We want to beat the record that Kotoko has never beaten them. So, we are going all out to meet them to come out victorious,” he added.

The much-anticipated Ashanti derby will take place on Saturday, October 11, at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex in Abrankese, with kick-off scheduled for 3:00 pm.

Asante Kotoko head into the fixture in high spirits after recording a 2-0 victory over Bibiani Gold Stars, while Nations FC will be eager to bounce back from their defeat to Medeama SC.

The encounter promises intense action as both sides look to assert dominance and gain valuable points in the early stages of the season.
