6th Edition of PruRide Launched with Focus on Health, Sustainability, and Inclusion
The 6th edition of PruRide, Ghana’s premier cycling event organized by Prudential Life Insurance Ghana in partnership with the Ghana Cycling Federation, was officially launched on June 27, 2025, at the company’s headquarters in Accra. The main event is slated for Sunday, August 31, 2025, at the iconic Black Star Square.
Themed around fitness, sustainability, and empowerment, this year’s edition reaffirms Prudential Life’s commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles and environmental consciousness in Ghana.
In her keynote address, Jane Dornukuor Mingle, CEO of Prudential Life Insurance Ghana, underscored the broader mission behind the initiative.
“It is with great pride that we launch the 6th edition of PRURIDE—our flagship cycling event that goes beyond sport,” Mingle stated.
“PRURIDE is a symbol of our commitment to building a healthier Ghana and a more sustainable future.”
Shaaban Mohammed, Secretary General of the Ghana Cycling Federation, commended Prudential Life for its consistent support and highlighted the tangible benefits of the event to athletes.
“This year’s event has been very good, and it’s going to be very good because we have the President of the Ghana Olympic Committee, who will add value to the event,” he said.
He recounted how the previous winner used the prize money to purchase land—a testament to the life-changing impact of the initiative.
In a stirring message, Richard Akpokavie Esq., President of the Ghana Olympic Committee, emphasized the importance of sports values and inclusive growth.
“There are two things I’d like to emphasize: putting athletes first and empowerment of women. All these young people, their lives can change because of what you are doing today.”
This year’s PruRide offers cash prizes up to GHS 15,000, along with trophies, medals, certificates, and branded souvenirs. In a move to foster inclusion, cyclists with disabilities will receive a special cash prize.
As the countdown to August 31 begins, Prudential Life and its partners are poised to deliver a memorable event that blends sport, sustainability, and social impact—all on two wheels.
