“We Must Fix the Black Stars Ahead of World Cup Qualifiers”- Kwasi Nyantakyi
Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kwasi Nyantakyi has called for urgent measures to restore the fortunes of the Black Stars as they prepare for their upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers in March 2025.
The former GFA president’s comments come amid widespread concerns about the Black Stars’ recent performances and their failure to qualify for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Speaking in an interview with Lawson FM, Nyantakyi expressed optimism about the team’s potential but emphasized the need for significant changes.
“I don’t think all is lost, but we have to fix it,” he stated. “We have World Cup qualifiers in March against Chad and Madagascar, and I believe that the right players will have to be called for these games.”
Nyantakyi stressed the importance of assembling a team of players who are not only talented but also deeply committed to representing the nation.
“It should not be the normal call-ups but players who are ready and dedicated to play for the country and the shirt,” he added.
Nyantakyi’s tenure as GFA president saw Ghana qualify for three consecutive FIFA World Cups from 2006 to 2014, making his insights particularly significant.
