The head coach of the Black Queens, Nora Hauptle, says they can have a ‘nice Christmas’ after qualifying for next year’s Women’s African Cup of Nations.

Ghana qualified for the tournament to be staged in Morocco despite a 1-0 loss to Namibia in the last qualification game.

However, an earlier 3-1 win in Accra meant Hauptle’s side earned their ticket to the WAFCON with an aggregate 3-2 win over the Namibian side.

Speaking after the match yesterday the Swiss trainer believes the team has fought a good fight this year.

“The performance today is closed because we have qualified back to the WAFCON and we are hungry and willing to play there and I think a lot of players deserve it,” she said.

” We have some young players. For them, it’s the first time so in general we have a very young squad and need to develop and work and continue our mission.

“I’m proud of this year, we won 10 out of 11 games and I think we can have a nice Christmas”.

The team will now focus on the CAF Olympic qualifiers game against Zambia in February 2024.
