UniMAC SRC Elections: Media Executive Alex Kobina Stonne Pushes Beyond Campus Mandate
Media executive and sports journalist, Alex Kobina Stonne, is contesting for the position of SRC External Affairs Officer at the University of Media, Arts and Communication, with elections scheduled for Friday.
Alex Kobina Stonne currently works as a sports journalist with Adom TV, Adom FM, and Asempa FM under the Media General umbrella. He also serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Nkrataasem.com, a fast growing online news and digital media outlet.
Speaking on his decision to contest, Stonne said his professional journey in the media space has exposed him to leadership, stakeholder engagement, and partnership building, skills he believes are essential for the role of External Affairs Officer.
His campaign agenda, dubbed the Beyond Campus Mandate, focuses on positioning UniMAC students for opportunities beyond the lecture hall. The vision seeks to build strategic partnerships with media organisations, sports institutions, corporate bodies, and development partners to create access to internships, mentorships, exposure, and capacity building opportunities for students.

According to Stonne, UniMAC is uniquely positioned as a creative and media focused institution, and student leadership must actively engage the external world to unlock its full potential. He believes his experience working both in mainstream media and digital publishing gives him a strong advantage in representing students at a broader level.
In the lead up to the election, the aspirant has intensified his engagement with students through face to face interactions, campus visits, and stakeholder meetings, listening to concerns and sharing his vision for an inclusive and results driven SRC.
The UniMAC SRC elections will be held on Friday, with students expected to vote across the various campuses.
