Kotoko Bring Back Albert Amoah on Loan in Surprise January Reunion

Asante Kotoko have confirmed the return of striker Albert Amoah, securing the forward on loan from Libyan outfit Al Ahly Benghazi on January 15, 2026, barely three months after sanctioning his permanent exit.

Amoah had only joined the North African side in October 2025 in a deal reportedly valued between $200,000 and $290,000, but the transfer soon became complicated. Kotoko struggled to receive the agreed transfer fees in full, forcing the club to issue formal warnings to Al Ahly Benghazi toward the end of last year.

Before his departure, Amoah had established himself as Kotoko’s most reliable attacking outlet, and his absence was evident as the Porcupine Warriors laboured for goals and consistency in the first half of the season.

His return is seen as a timely boost as Kotoko attempt to revive their 2025/26 Ghana Premier League campaign. Head coach Abdul Karim Zito has previously admitted the side’s struggles in attack, acknowledging the need for a dominant striker to improve their conversion rate in front of goal.

Amoah’s reappearance at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium is expected to lift both confidence and competition within the squad, with supporters hopeful that the familiar face can reignite Kotoko’s attacking edge and play a decisive role in the club’s push up the league table.
