Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo delivered an instant impact at the Vitality Stadium on Monday night, scoring within the first minute to hand AFC Bournemouth a narrow 1-0 win over Fulham in the English Premier League.

The victory propelled Bournemouth into 8th place on the table and kept their hopes for European qualification alive, moving them just six points behind Aston Villa in the final guaranteed European spot.

Semenyo’s goal, which came just 53 seconds after kickoff, proved decisive. The 24-year-old striker powered past Fulham defender Antonee Robinson down the right flank before curling a precise low shot into the far corner, beyond the outstretched arms of Bernd Leno.

The goal was Semenyo’s eighth in the Premier League this season and his first since January 25, when he scored against Nottingham Forest. His energetic performance set the tone for Bournemouth, who looked confident throughout the match.

He received a standing ovation in the 90th minute when he was substituted for Argentine midfielder Soler, a January arrival from Lanús.

Bournemouth nearly doubled their lead later in the game when Brazilian forward Evanilson struck the post with a fierce drive. Despite Fulham pressing in the second half, the Cherries held on to record their first home win since January.

The defeat marked Fulham’s third consecutive loss on the road, denting their own ambitions of pushing up the table.
