GPL: Our target is the title- Aboubakar Ouattara
Hearts of Oak head coach Aboubakar Ouattara has expressed confidence in his team’s ability to contend for the Ghana Premier League title, emphasizing the competitive nature of the league this season.
The Phobians are currently sixth on the GPL table with 19 points.
Speaking in an interview, the coach Ouattara highlighted the formidable competition posed by several top teams vying for the coveted championship.
“The teams that are competing to win the Ghana Premier League are many,” Ouattara said. “Bibiani GoldStars, Nations FC, Medeama, Heart of Lions, Hearts of Oak, and Asante Kotoko are all fighting for the title.” He said.
Despite the tough competition, Ouattara remains optimistic about his side’s prospects, making it clear that Hearts of Oak are in the race for the league crown.
“If you say it is not your target to win the league, why are you playing?” he questioned. “We are competing for the title, and if it comes to pass, it will not be a surprise; if it doesn’t happen, too, it will not be a surprise.” He added.
Hearts of Oak will clash with their arch rivals Asante Kotoko next on 15th December 2024.
