President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Okraku, has disclosed that the search for a new head coach for the Black Stars has attracted overwhelming global interest, with more than 600 applications already submitted.

The revelation comes just after the FA parted ways with former head coach Otto Addo, following a series of disappointing results in recent international friendlies.

Speaking to 3Sports, Okraku highlighted the scale of interest in the role, underlining Ghana’s enduring appeal on the international football stage.

“We have received over 600 applications for Black Stars job,” he stated.

The large number of applicants presents both an opportunity and a challenge for the GFA, as it seeks to identify the right candidate capable of steering the national team forward ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The association is expected to begin a rigorous vetting process to shortlist qualified candidates, with a focus on experience, tactical philosophy, and the ability to manage a high-profile national team.

With Ghana preparing for upcoming friendlies against Mexico and Wales, the urgency to appoint a new coach remains high.

The Black Stars have been drawn in a challenging World Cup group alongside England, Croatia, and Panama, making the upcoming appointment a critical decision for Ghana’s ambitions on the global stage.
