Hearts of Oak head coach Aboubakar Ouattara has expressed disappointment following his team’s 1-0 defeat to Nations FC in their Ghana Premier League Week 21 clash on Thursday afternoon.

The match, played at the Tuba AstroTurf due to renovation works at the University of Ghana Stadium, was tightly contested, but a second-half goal proved decisive as the Phobians walked away empty-handed.

In his post-match interview, Ouattara acknowledged the strength of their opponents and admitted that Hearts of Oak simply didn’t take their chances when it mattered most.

“I told you before the match that Nations FC is a strong team. Today, unfortunately, we lost against a strong team with a good organisation,” he said.

Despite a spirited effort from his side, Ouattara pointed to their continued struggles in front of goal as the key reason for the defeat.

“We did everything, but unfortunately, it’s the same disaster we have. The scoring possibility, we have a problem with that. We lost, and we accept it. We didn’t do well. We missed all the chances,” the coach added.

The result adds to a frustrating run of form for the Phobians, who are now under increasing pressure to turn things around as the title race heats up.

Looking ahead, Ouattara is determined to see a reaction from his players in their upcoming clash with Medeama SC on Sunday, April 6.
