Otto Addo Confident Black Stars Can Overcome Austria in Vienna Showdown
Otto Addo has expressed strong belief in his team’s ability to secure victory when Black Stars face Austria in an international friendly in Vienna.
With the clash set for the Ernst Happel Stadium, the Ghana coach insists his side possesses the quality required to overcome the European opposition, while also cautioning against complacency.
“I think we have a good squad to beat Austria. I think in football anything is possible. This is football. To be honest, everyone can beat everyone,” he said during his pre-match press conference.
Addo pointed to recent global tournaments as evidence that no team can be taken lightly, stressing the unpredictable nature of modern football.
“I’m very, very sure. We saw it at the last World Cup that there’s no team to be underrated. Surely, Germany is a high-profile team, but to be honest I’m not thinking about Germany now,” he added.
The Black Stars coach made it clear that his immediate attention is firmly on Austria, with no distractions as the team aims to build momentum.
“So, for us, it’s the full focus on Austria. We want to win every match we play. This is for sure. And now the full focus is on Austria. We saw what they do. We analysed them well. I’m very, very hopeful that the players will do it at the end. It’s about them. The focus on Austria and we know what to do.”
Friday’s encounter, scheduled for 17:00 GMT, represents a key test for Ghana as they continue preparations for upcoming international competitions, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
