Otto Addo Concerned About Short Turnaround Time Ahead of Madagascar Clash

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has voiced his concerns over Ghana’s tight schedule ahead of their crucial FIFA World Cup qualifier against Madagascar on Monday, March 24.

The team heads into the match just two days after their emphatic 5-0 victory over Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium, while Madagascar, who defeated the Central African Republic (CAR), had an extra day to rest and are already in Morocco, where the game will be played.

Speaking after the Chad match, Addo admitted the short recovery period and travel logistics put his side at a disadvantage.

“It’s worrying because we also need to travel. Madagascar are already in Morocco, so for them, it is much easier,” Addo said in his post-match press conference.

“I don’t know who is doing the schedule. There is nothing we can do. We have to accept it. It will be very tough. They [Madagascar] have a really good team and a good victory against CAR, so it will be very tough. Our preparations start now,” he added.

Despite the quick turnaround, the Black Stars will take confidence from their dominant display against Chad, where goals from Antoine Semenyo, Inaki Williams, Jordan Ayew, Mohammed Salisu, and Ernest Nuamah secured all three points.

Ghana currently leads Group I with 12 points, two ahead of second-placed Madagascar, making Monday’s fixture crucial in their quest to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
