Otto Addo Apologizes for AFCON Qualifying Failure
Ghana coach Otto Addo has issued a heartfelt apology to Ghanaians following the Black Stars’ failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
The Black Stars’ inability to secure a single victory in the qualifiers has left fans frustrated and disheartened. The team managed only three points in six games—a performance that has sparked widespread criticism.
Speaking after the team’s disappointing lost to Niger in Accra, Otto Addo acknowledged the emotional toll the results have had on supporters and apologised.
“I would like to apologize for the results. I know for a lot of people, the World Cup is bigger than the AFCON but for me personally, the AFCON is bigger. I am ready to apologise. I’m so sorry that we didn’t do well and we didnt qualify because I know what means for Ghanaians. ” He said.
Ghana have failed to qualify for the AFCON for the first time in 20 years and would not turn their attention to the World Cup qualifiers.
