Medeama Sporting Club has confirmed the appointment of Ibrahim Tanko as their new head coach on a two-and-a-half-year contract.

The former Ghana international steps in to replace Augustine Evans Adotey, who will now revert to his previous role as the club’s technical director.

Tanko, widely respected for his tactical expertise and leadership, boasts vast coaching experience at both club and international levels. His arrival is expected to bolster Medeama’s ambitions as they look to compete at the highest level.

A former Borussia Dortmund forward, Tanko has worked in Germany’s Bundesliga, Japan’s J-League, and Cameroon’s national team setup. He was an assistant coach for the Indomitable Lions and has also been involved with Ghana’s Black Meteors and Black Galaxies.

Before joining Medeama, he was part of Accra Lions’ technical team, serving as both coach and technical advisor.

His first test in the Medeama dugout will be on Sunday, February 3, 2025, when his side faces Legon Cities at the TnA Stadium.
