Otto Addo Admits Concern Over Semenyo’s Black Stars Form
Otto Addo has opened up about his concerns regarding Antoine Semenyo, revealing that the striker’s struggles with the national team have been a source of worry for him.
Despite enjoying an impressive run at club level with Manchester City, Semenyo has found it difficult to replicate that form for the Black Stars, prompting questions from fans and analysts alike.
Addo admitted the situation weighs heavily on him, especially given the player’s potential and development over the years.
“Sometimes, I don’t sleep. I know there were times a lot of people said he was not good enough when we brought him in,” he said.
The Ghana coach also reflected on Semenyo’s journey, highlighting the role the national team has played in his growth from his early days in England to his current status.
“He was at Bristol City, he went to Bournemouth and now he’s at Manchester City. I think we also have our part in developing him and giving him confidence.”

While acknowledging the forward’s struggles in national colours, Addo expressed satisfaction with his overall progress.
“We are very happy at where he is.”
Semenyo’s club form has been outstanding this season, placing him among the top scorers in the English Premier League. However, his international record—just three goals in over 30 appearances—remains a concern as Ghana continues preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
