Mohammed Salisu Not Surprised by His Resurgence at AS Monaco
Ghanaian defender Mohammed Salisu has revealed that his consistent run of form and regular starting place at AS Monaco this season is the result of hard work and determination — and not something that has come as a surprise to him.
After a challenging 2024/25 campaign in which he made just 24 appearances across all competitions, the Black Stars centre-back has now cemented his place in Monaco’s starting lineup. Salisu has started the last seven consecutive matches for the French giants, delivering strong performances in both Ligue 1 and the UEFA Champions League.
Speaking in an interview with the club’s media, Salisu said his current form is a reflection of the effort he has put in behind the scenes.
“I gave myself the chance to earn this spot by working hard, and that’s why I’m not surprised to be playing regularly now. In training, I’m improving and making sure to stay as disciplined as possible, and I’ve been doing that since the restart,” he explained.
The 26-year-old has featured six times in the French Ligue 1 this season, scoring once, and has also made three appearances in the Champions League group stages.
