Medeama SC Charged by GFA Over Broadcast Incident
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) Prosecutor has charged Medeama Sporting Club for allegedly obstructing the live broadcast of their Ghana Premier League match against Asante Kotoko.
The incident is said to have violated Section 42(6) of the GFA Premier League Regulations, 2019.
The match, held on Sunday, January 5, 2025, garnered significant attention for both its on-field competitiveness and off-field controversy. According to reports, Medeama SC allegedly denied the GFA’s accredited media partners access to broadcast the game live, an act deemed contrary to the league’s broadcast agreements.
In a statement released the same evening, the GFA confirmed the charge:
“Medeama SC has been charged with a breach of Section 42(6) of the GFA Premier League Regulations, 2019, following their Ghana Premier League game against Asante Kotoko. It is alleged that the club prevented GFA-accredited media partners from the live broadcast of the said game.”
The Tarkwa-based club has been given until Wednesday, January 8, 2025, to formally respond to the charges.
