Malta Guinness WPL: Ridge City struggle continues with defeat to Army Ladies

Ridge City failed to come good against Army Ladies in their match day four game of the ongoing 2022-23 Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League following a narrow defeat on Saturday afternoon.

Army Ladies thumped Ridge City FC 1-0 at the El-Wak stadium to deny Ridge City their first away win of the campaign.

Early minute, goal from Harriet Adjetey was enough to safeguard Army Ladies FC who picked their second victory at the expense of Ridge City FC. Adjetey broke the deadlock in the 8th minute after a lose ball fell for the host, and making no mistake was the attacking midfielder slotting it in to her outfit advantage.

The ding-dong affair proved to be difficult for the visitors, Ridge City FC who could not find antidote to the constant mounting of pressure from the homers.

Ridge City FC, however, had a space to breath in the last eight minutes of the first half, having made tactical variation to the setup to reply for a goal before break.

In as much as, Ridge City looked dangerous before half time they could not make good account of their attacking prowess before visiting the dressing room with a lone goal.

The early strike indeed, proved it worth for Army Ladies who counted on to clinch their second win of the season after failing to open the midfield triangle of the away side in the second department of the encounter.

Both teams, came by with clear cut goalscoring opportunities but lacked composure and precision upfront.

After full time, the visitors were unable to match Army Ladies losing by a narrow margin 1-0.

The defeat, means Ridge City FC are winless in four Premier league matches with just two points to show from a possible 12.

Currently, they sit 8th on the Southern zone with two points and have conceded seven goals and scored three.
