The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) has send warm wishes to Ghanaian clubs set to commence their campaign in Africa, urging them to make the West African Country proud.

Ghana will have two clubs participate in the upcoming 2023-24 CAF Inter-Club competition with one in the Champions League and the other to trade in the Confederation Cup. Medeama SC will play in the Champions League by virtue clinching the domestic league last season.

Whiles, Dreams FC take a place in the Confederation Cup. Dreams FC is making it’s maiden campaign in Africa after winning the MTN FA Cup.

Medeama SC on the other hand is making their third appearance at the CAF Inter-Club competition but their debut in the Champions League. They will take on Nigerian side Remo Stars Sports Club on Sunday, August 20 in the first leg of the preliminary round at the Cape Coast Stadium before travelling to Remoland for the reverse fixture.

Dreams FC will first travel to Conakry for their encounter against Milo FC De Kankan on August 27, 2023 before hosting them in the second leg in Accra.

SWAG in a released statement, has urged both teams to make Ghana proud.

“The leadership and membership of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) is urging Ghanaians especially football fans to rally around the country’s representatives in the Continental competitions and help fly the flag of the country high

“SWAG insists on support from all stakeholders especially the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the FA, the media, and the public to support the two clubs all the way in their matches”

A SWAG statement signed and released by President Kwabena Yeboah threw a challenge to Medeama and Dreams not to underrate themselves but use the trophies they won locally as a shining example that should inspire them to continental victories.

“Ghanaians in and around Cape Coast should troop to the Cape Coast Stadium to cheer on Medeama to victory while praying for a safe journey to Dreams and wishing them well in Conakry. But above all, this should be a challenge to the players of the two teams to use the platform to shine, represent Ghana well and make all of us prood”, said the SWAG President
