Leicester City Turn Down €32m Bid from Sunderland for Abdul Fatawu Issahaku
Leicester City have rejected a €32 million bid from Sunderland for Ghanaian international winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku.
The Black Cats, who are reinforcing their squad after sealing a return to the Premier League, had identified Fatawu as a marquee signing to strengthen their attack.
However, the Foxes are unwilling to part ways with the 21-year-old, who has become one of their most prized assets despite Leicester’s relegation to the Championship last season.
Fatawu has flourished since making his permanent move to Leicester from Sporting Lisbon in 2023. He has already featured 57 times across all competitions, scoring seven goals while showcasing his pace, dribbling ability, and creativity in the final third.
On the international stage, the Ghanaian winger has earned 24 caps for the Black Stars, further underlining his growing reputation in world football.
Sunderland’s pursuit demonstrates their ambition to compete at the highest level, but the approach also highlights the growing demand for Fatawu’s services across Europe. Aston Villa and other Premier League clubs are also reported to be keeping tabs on his situation.
By rejecting Sunderland’s bid, Leicester have sent a clear message: Fatawu remains central to their plans under new manager Marti Cifuentes as they push for an immediate return to the Premier League.
