President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, has expressed confidence in Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito, believing he has the tactical acumen to inspire the team to victory over Wydad Athletic Club in Morocco.

The Porcupine Warriors face a challenging task in the CAF Confederation Cup after falling 1-0 to the Moroccan giants in the first leg of the second preliminary round at the Accra Sports Stadium last Sunday.

With the return fixture set for tonight at the Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca at 19:00 GMT, Kotoko will need a strong performance to overturn the deficit and keep their continental hopes alive.

Speaking to Asempa FM, GFA President Kurt Okraku maintained a positive outlook, backing Zito’s experience and resilience to deliver a turnaround result.

“All is not lost after the first leg result, but don’t discount what Karim Zito can do,” Okraku said confidently.

Okraku’s endorsement comes as a morale boost for the team, which has shown promise under Zito’s leadership since his recent appointment. The Ghanaian champions will have to combine tactical discipline and attacking efficiency to outclass Wydad on their home turf — a venue notoriously difficult for visiting sides.

The aggregate winner of the two-legged tie will advance to the group stage of the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup, bringing them a step closer to continental glory.

Kotoko’s traveling contingent includes several key players such as Albert Amoah, Patrick Asiedu, and Peter Amidu, all eager to make an impact as the team aims to rewrite the story in Casablanca.
