Ghana  will discover their path to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations when the qualification draw takes place on Tuesday, with the four-time continental champions placed in Pot 2.

The four-time African Champions enter the qualifying phase aiming to bounce back after missing out on the previous edition staged in Morocco, a setback that increased pressure on the team heading into the new campaign.

The upcoming tournament will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, with matches scheduled between June 10 and July 17, 2027.

A total of 48 nations will be divided into 12 groups of four teams, with only the top two from each group earning automatic qualification to the expanded 24-team finals.

However, the qualification structure comes with added complexity as the three host nations will also participate in the qualifiers despite already securing their place at the tournament.

Pot 1 features some of Africa’s elite football nations, including reigning champions Morocco national football team, alongside heavyweights such as Senegal national football team, Nigeria national football team, Egypt national football team and Ivory Coast national football team.

Ghana headline Pot 2 alongside nations including Cape Verde national football team, Guinea national football team, Gabon national football team and Angola national football team, among others.

Pot 3 includes teams such as Kenya national football team, Tanzania national football team, Libya national football team and several emerging sides, while Pot 4 contains lower-ranked nations including Zimbabwe national football team, Botswana national football team and South Sudan national football team.

The draw procedure will begin with teams in Pot 4 before progressing through Pot 3 and Pot 2, with Pot 1 nations drawn last, meaning Africa’s top-ranked teams will be the final sides to know their group opponents.

The qualification campaign will unfold across three international windows scheduled for September–October 2026, November 2026, and March 2027, with each team playing two matches per window as the race to the finals begins.
