Asante Kotoko forward Albert Amoah has reaffirmed the club’s determination to fight until the final whistle in their pursuit of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League title.
The 23-year-old striker delivered a standout performance on Sunday at the Baba Yara Stadium, scoring a hat-trick to inspire the Porcupine Warriors to a thrilling 3-2 comeback victory over Medeama SC on Matchday 33.
The win has pushed Kotoko to third on the league table with 58 points, just two behind leaders Nations FC, heading into the final round of fixtures.
In a post-match interview, Amoah expressed satisfaction with the team’s fighting spirit and emphasized that their title hopes remain alive.
“We are happy [to have beaten Medeama]. It is our dream to win the Premier League, but it’s not too late, so we are happy to claim the three points,” he said.
Recognizing Medeama’s strength, Amoah credited the technical team for motivating the squad ahead of the tough clash.
“They are a very good side, and our coach told us that this was going to be a tough game, so we should fight hard, and we are happy to win,” he added.
Reflecting on his personal performance, the hat-trick hero was modest and suggested there is more he can offer.
“I’m not very ok because I can do more than this, but there is more to come. I don’t really have a special position, wherever you place me on the pitch, I’m comfortable apart from goalkeeping,” he noted.
Amoah also spoke about his ambition to clinch the top scorer title, with his current tally of 12 goals placing him just three behind Golden Boot frontrunner Stephen Amankona of Berekum Chelsea.
“It’s not late [to win the title], everything is possible, and it’s not too late. We have one match to go against Vision FC, an away game. We hope to go and claim all three points there so the goals can also come,” he concluded.
Kotoko will round off their Premier League season with a decisive away trip to Vision FC at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex on Sunday, June 8. Victory, combined with favourable results elsewhere, could see them lift the coveted title in dramatic fashion.
