Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito has expressed his desire to crown his short stint with the club by winning the 2024/25 MTN FA Cup.

The experienced tactician, who took over the reins late in the season, has overseen a strong resurgence from the Porcupine Warriors.

His side maintained their unbeaten run under his leadership with a thrilling 3-2 comeback victory over Medeama SC on Matchday 33 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Kotoko currently sit third on the Ghana Premier League table with 58 points—two points behind joint leaders Bibiani Gold Stars and Nations FC, with just one match remaining.

Despite the slim title hopes, Coach Zito is shifting his focus toward the FA Cup as a more realistic target to end the season with silverware.

“I have done my part,” Zito told the media after Sunday’s win. “I have played at least five matches, and I have been able to go through this point. It is my prayer to win the FA Cup, then I will be satisfied at the end and let the technical director know I have done my best when I took over.”

Since his appointment, Zito has led Kotoko to three wins and two draws in the league, stabilizing a side that was under pressure following a string of inconsistent performances earlier in the season.

Kotoko will wrap up their Premier League campaign against Vision FC before turning their attention to the FA Cup final, where they will face Golden Kicks at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium on June 15, 2025.
