The Black Stars officially kicked off their preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Chad with their first training session at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday.

Despite head coach Otto Addo naming a 23-man squad for the doubleheader against Chad and Madagascar, only nine players were present for the opening session.

The training session, which was open to the public, saw the participation of goalkeepers Benjamin Asare (Hearts of Oak), Lawrence Ati-Zigi (St. Gallen), and Joseph Wollacott (Crawley Town).

Defenders Kamaradini Mamoud (Medeama SC), Mohammed Salisu (AS Monaco), Gideon Mensah (Auxerre), and Razak Simpson (Nations FC) also reported for duty.

In attack, Kamaldeen Sulemana (Southampton) and Antoine Semenyo (AFC Bournemouth) were the only forwards available.

More players are expected to join the squad in the coming days as the team intensifies preparations for the crucial match.

Ghana will take on Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21, before traveling to Morocco to face Madagascar on March 24 in another Group I qualifier. The Black Stars currently share the top spot with Comoros, making these fixtures vital for their World Cup qualification hopes.
