Athletic Bilbao have been handed a major lift ahead of their Champions League meeting with Paris Saint-Germain, as Ghana forward Inaki Williams makes his long-awaited return from injury.

The 31-year-old has been included in the matchday squad for Wednesday night’s high-profile clash at San Mamés — his first call-up since suffering an injury in October.

His comeback arrives at a critical moment for the Basque side, who are eager to revive their European campaign after a difficult start.

Williams sustained the setback during Bilbao’s 3–1 win over Qarabag FK two months ago, an incident that forced him to be stretchered off. The injury ruled him out of action for both club and country, sidelining him for several weeks.

Now fully recovered, the Black Stars forward is expected to feature against the defending champions as Bilbao seek inspiration and leadership to keep their Champions League hopes alive.

Williams has made three Champions League appearances this season but is still chasing his first goal contribution in the competition. Across all competitions, he has managed one goal in 12 outings, with that lone strike coming in La Liga.

As team captain, Williams’ presence on the pitch will be crucial — both for morale and for Bilbao’s chances of producing a strong response in front of their home crowd.
