“I’m not resigning”- Otto Addo
Ghana coach Otto Addo has firmly rejected calls for his resignation following the Black Stars’ failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The Black Stars lost 2-1 to Niger in the last round of games of the AFCON qualifiers.
In the wake of the team’s underwhelming campaign, Addo faced mounting pressure from fans and pundits, but he made it clear that stepping down is not an option.
“I’m not the person who can resign. If I had done this, I’d never have become a player or even a coach,” Addo said during a press conference. “If you know where I have come from as a person to arrive at this job, you won’t even ask about resignation.”
The former Borussia Dortmund trainer scout also dismissed criticism from those calling for his exit, asserting, “People shouting and telling me to resign can’t affect me.”
Addo’s statement underscores his determination to stay the course and focus on preparing the Black Stars for future challenges, including the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
