“If you see competence in me, give me the job”- Bashiru Hayford on Black Stars job
Heart of Lions head coach, Bashiru Hayford, has expressed his openness to taking on the role of coaching Ghana’s senior national football team, the Black Stars, if given the opportunity.
The Black Stars have struggled recently and failed to qualify for the African Cup of Nations earmarked to take place in Morocco next year.
The four-time African champions failed to win a single game in the qualifiers sparking a lot conversations about the competence of head coach Otto Addo.
Asked in an interview on whether he is open to coaching the Black Stars, veteran coach Bashiru Hayford highlighted his belief in his capabilities.
“Why do you ask? What does it take to coach the Black Stars? Everything shows I can do the job. So if you see competence in me, give it to me; if you don’t see any competence, don’t give it to me,” he remarked on Asempa FM.
The Black Stars of Ghana will play against Chad in March 2025 in the 2026 World Cup qualifier.
