A goalless draw away from home may not have been the perfect result for Medeama SC, but head coach Ibrahim Tanko believes the point gained against FC Samartex 1996 could prove vital as the Ghana Premier League title race tightens.

The Yellow and Mauve created several scoring chances in the opening half but failed to make them count, before a more intense and physical second half saw both teams settle for a share of the spoils.

Reflecting on the encounter, Tanko admitted his side could have done better in front of goal but was pleased with the resilience shown on the road.

“It was a very good game. We had chances in the first half of the match and couldn’t utilize them. The second half was tough, but I’m happy to secure a point away,” he said after the match.

Despite dropping two points, Medeama remain at the summit of the league standings with 45 points. However, the title race is tightening, with Bibiani Gold Stars FC moving up to second place on 42 points, piling pressure on the Tarkwa-based side as the championship battle approaches a decisive phase.

With the chasing pack closing in, Tanko and his charges will be keen to rediscover their scoring touch and maintain their lead in the remaining fixtures of the campaign.
