Ranking Member of the Parliamentary Sports Committee, Hon. Vincent Ekow Assafuah, has openly criticized the push for a third term for the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), describing it as an unsanctioned agenda.

His comments come amid public debates surrounding the GFA’s recent proposal to extend the presidential term limit for Kurt Okraku from two to three terms — a topic scheduled for discussion at the upcoming GFA Congress.

Speaking in an interview on Sportsnite on Asempa FM, the lawmaker expressed strong reservations about the legitimacy of the move, questioning its alignment with FIFA regulations.

“Why should someone sit in his room and set an agenda to contest a third term as GFA president. FIFA has not sanctioned this. It is solely an agenda. No way in the regulations of FIFA gives the right to member countries for their President to go for a third term,” he stated.

Hon. Assafuah’s remarks add to a growing list of stakeholders expressing concerns over governance, transparency, and the direction of football administration in the country.
