GoldStars CEO Explains Frimpong Manso’s Exit as Clash of Leadership Styles, Not Poor Form
Bibiani GoldStars’ decision to part ways with their league-winning coach, Frimpong Manso, has been attributed to internal disagreements rather than performance issues, according to Chief Executive Officer Akwasi Adu.
In an interview with Akoma 87.9 FM, Adu explained that the separation was rooted in differing philosophies at the club’s leadership level.
“The decision to part ways with Coach Frimpong Manso goes beyond football,” he revealed. “Maybe the timing might be wrong, but after all, two masters cannot steer one ship.”
The comments shed light on tensions between the technical bench and management, despite Manso’s remarkable achievements. Under his guidance, GoldStars went from battling relegation to lifting their maiden Ghana Premier League trophy in just two seasons.
Adu further clarified that the decision had nothing to do with the club’s recent 2-0 defeat to Algerian side JS Kabylie in the CAF Confederation Cup.
“We are not so much interested in Africa, and nobody should attribute Frimpong Manso’s sacking to JS Kabylie’s defeat,” he insisted.
Addressing concerns over the timing of the decision, Adu reminded fans that even the most accomplished coaches are not immune to dismissals. “Even José Mourinho was sacked, so how much more Frimpong Manso?” he remarked.
The sudden exit of the title-winning coach highlights the complex dynamics within football administration, where strategic vision and leadership alignment often prove just as decisive as results on the pitch.
