Ghana Premier League Spot on the Line as Eleven Wonders Face RTU in Crucial Playoff Showdown
A place in the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League will be decided on Friday when Techiman Eleven Wonders take on Real Tamale United (RTU) in a winner-takes-all playoff clash at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The all-important fixture will determine the sole qualifier from Zone One of the Access Bank Division One League, continuing a recent pattern of playoff deciders in the zone. In previous seasons, Bofoakwa Tano and Young Apostles advanced to the top flight through similar knockout battles.
Real Tamale United are aiming to make an immediate return to the Premier League following their relegation last season. They earned the top spot in Zone One A with an impressive haul of 58 points from 28 matches, winning 18, drawing four, and losing six.
RTU’s attacking trio of Wisdom Jonas Manyina, Blabala Bamon, and Abdul Rashid have been in outstanding form, scoring 15, 12, and 10 goals respectively. The Northern-based side will be relying on this firepower to push them past a determined Eleven Wonders outfit.
Techiman Eleven Wonders, meanwhile, are seeking redemption after narrowly missing out on promotion last season in a similar playoff against Bofoakwa Tano. This time around, they dominated Zone One B with 15 wins from 28 games to secure a second chance at elevation.
Key to their campaign has been right-back Farouk Ameyaw, who has chipped in with six goals, and goalkeeper Kwame Opoku, who boasts 13 clean sheets in 25 appearances — providing the foundation for a solid defense.
