Ghana Forward Mohammed Fuseini Recovering After Violent Robbery in Brussels
Ghana international Mohammed Fuseini is on the road to recovery after being the victim of a violent robbery in Brussels, an incident that has drawn widespread concern across Belgian football.
The 24-year-old Union Saint-Gilloise forward was reportedly attacked on Sunday while seated in his parked vehicle, according to Belgian media reports.
Belgian outlet Het Laatste Nieuws reported that five men forcibly pulled Fuseini from his car before assaulting him and stealing several personal belongings.
Among the items taken were his mobile phone and a luxury wristwatch believed to be worth between €8,000 and €14,000.
Fuseini sustained injuries during the attack and was transported to hospital, where he received treatment. Although the extent of his injuries has not been made public, reports indicate that the striker is recovering.
Videos believed to show the robbery have since circulated on social media, sparking outrage among football supporters and the wider public.
Belgian police have confirmed they are aware of the footage, while the case has been transferred to the public prosecutor’s office, which is leading investigations to identify those responsible.
Belgian champions Union Saint-Gilloise condemned the attack and expressed appreciation to the authorities for their swift intervention.
“We thank the Brussels police for their excellent work,” the club said in a statement, adding that it continues to support Fuseini throughout his recovery.
Fuseini joined Union Saint-Gilloise two years ago following spells with Austrian side Sturm Graz and Danish club Randers. Since arriving in Belgium, he has established himself as an important member of the club’s attacking unit and is regarded as one of Ghana’s emerging talents in European football.
Investigators continue to gather evidence as they work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the attack and bring those involved to justice.
