Fatawu Hamidu hold first training with Black Stars ahead of Liberia friendly

The 24-year-old defender, on Sunday held his first training with the Black Stars after getting a call-up to the team late hour.

Fatawu Hamidu who plays as a left-back for Ghana Premier League giant’s Medeama SC earned a call-up to the Black Stars for Ghana’s International friendly against Liberia this week. He’s invite is as a result of Baba Abdul Rahman’s injury.

Hamidu replaced injured left-back Baba Abdul Rahman.

The PAOK FC defender was in action last Thursday in Ghana’s 2023 AFCON qualifier game against Central African Republic, where they rallied from behind to win 2-1 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. Rahman saw 64′ minutes and was taken off.

However, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has disclosed that he is injured and can not be ready for friendly against Liberia. The FA meanwhile, refused to make known where who how Baba Rahman suffered the injury.

Medeama SC left back, Fatawu Hamidu who is fortunate to take his place held first training with the Black Stars at the Accra Sports Stadium ahead of Liberia friendly game.

The game will be played at the Accra Sports Stadium as part of preparations toward the start of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
