CAF Confirms Fixtures as Black Starlets Plot U-17 AFCON Campaign
The roadmap for Ghana’s U-17 national team at the upcoming continental tournament has been clearly defined following the release of the official match schedule by Confederation of African Football.
Drawn in a competitive Group D, the Black Starlets will begin their campaign on May 14 with a clash against Algeria, scheduled for 19:00 GMT. Attention will then shift to a high-stakes encounter with Senegal on May 17 at 16:00 GMT, before rounding off the group phase against South Africa on May 20 at 19:00 GMT.
The tournament, set to run from May 13 to June 2 in Morocco, carries significant weight beyond continental honours. Qualification for the global stage is firmly on the line, with the eight quarter-finalists guaranteed places at the FIFA U-17 World Cup. In addition, the two best third-placed teams will also progress, bringing Africa’s total representation to ten nations.

Ghana returns to the competition after nearly a decade away, with their last appearance coming in 2017 when they finished as runners-up to Mali. That history adds further expectation as the current squad prepares to re-establish the country’s presence at youth level on the continental stage.
With dates and opponents now confirmed, preparations enter a decisive phase. The challenge ahead is clear, and for the Black Starlets, the objective is firmly set—secure progression and book a place at the World Cup.
