Ghanaian champions, Medeama SC will be representing the West African Country in the 2023-24 CAF Champions League competition after clinching the Premier League last season.

The team after breaking the long standing trophy drought in the Western Region of 47-years without a Premier league trophy and again breaking all records to win their first-ever top-flight league is expected to excel in Africa and qualify to the Group stage of the CAF Champions League.

Medeama is strengthening their squad for the huge task whiles offloading others.

As part of their preparations, engaged in two friendlies including one against ASKO de Kara but lost both. They lost 3-2 to Ghana Premier League entrants Nations FC and narrow 1-0 defeat to Togo side ASKO de Kara.

The Mauves and Yellow outfit have been drawn against Nigerian club Remo Stars for the preliminary stage, with Medeama SC taking the advantage to host the first leg come August 18-20, 2023.

With encounter, scheduled for Cape Coast Stadium, since CAF did not approve T&A park for their campaign Management of Medeama SC has promised to turn Cape Coast Stadium upside down to secure first leg advantage before trip to Remoland for the reverse fixture.

Patrick Akoto, who is the communication director for the club disclosed the above on an interview with Asempa FM Ultimate show.

“However, we need money a lot of money to achieve thus. The team needs massive support and quality to compete though most players within are looking elsewhere”

Medeama SC is making their third appearance at the CAF Inter-Club competitions but maiden edition in the Champions League having excelled twice in the CAF Confederation Cup.
