Ghana international Evelyn Badu has been shortlisted for the 2023 CAF Women’s Player of the Year award.

Badu is the only Ghanaian in the nominees for the category which was revealed on Tuesday, November 14 by CAF.

The attacking midfielder has been instrumental for the Black Queens since the appointment of Nora Hauptle, scoring nine goals in the 2024 Olympic Games and Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

On the club side, the 21-year-old has also continued to impress for Norwegian side Avaldsnes, where her side occupies the ninth spot in the Toppserien.

Badu scooped two awards at last year’s edition of the awards winning the Young Player of the Year as well as the Interclub Player of the Year.

In other categories, Ghan also secured a nomination for the National Team of the Year (Women) category after what has been a good ride for the various female national teams.

The Black Princesses won the WAFU B U-20 Girls Cup in Kumasi while the Black Queens have also been on an incredible nine-game run without a defeat.

This year’s CAF awards is scheduled for Morocco on December 11.
