George Afriyie’s disqualification from GFA Presidential race appeals dismissed

Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) vice-president, George Akwasi Afriyie will not be eligible to contest for the upcoming 2023 GFA Presidential Elections.

The football administrator, has been disqualified from running the Presidential seat. George Afriyie’s appeal of his disqualification from the GFA Presidential race has been dismissed.

He was disqualified for failing to secure atleast five members to endorse his candidature for the elections but filed an appeal, hoping the elections Committee would have rescinded on his disqualification.

Nonetheless, his fate remains the same and can not run the race.

The bankroller of lower-tier club Susubiribi SC was vying for the GFA Presidency for a second time running after losing 2019 elections to now President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku.

What NEXT?

The decision by the appeals Committee to dismiss George Afriyie case means incumbent Kurt Okraku will go unopposed.
