The Black Stars of Ghana have been shortlisted for the Men’s National Team of the Year award at the upcoming 2025 CAF Awards, following a year of remarkable resurgence and consistency on the international stage.

After missing out on the previous Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Ghana bounced back in emphatic style, showcasing significant improvement under head coach Otto Addo. Their strong run in 2025 has reignited national pride and earned continental recognition from the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

It marks the first time in several years that the four-time African champions have been nominated for this prestigious national team accolade. The Black Stars’ inclusion comes on the back of an unbeaten streak in six competitive matches this year — registering five victories and one draw.

Ghana’s dominance also extended to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, where Otto Addo’s side emerged Group I winners, amassing 25 points from ten matches with eight wins, one draw, and a single defeat. Their solid performances both home and away reaffirmed their growing strength and tactical evolution.

The Black Stars will face strong competition from fellow nominees Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, South Africa, Tunisia, Algeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Cape Verde, and Morocco’s U-20 world champions, the Atlas Cubs — all of whom enjoyed impressive campaigns in their respective competitions.

With the CAF Awards ceremony drawing closer, Ghana’s national team will be hoping to crown their remarkable revival with continental recognition as Africa’s best men’s team of 2025.
