Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars, have reportedly been victims of a theft incident at their training base in Vienna, just days before their international friendly against Austria.

According to reports, several players and members of the technical team lost valuables, including cash and wristwatches, with the total estimated value said to be around $20,000. The incident has raised concerns within the camp as preparations intensify for Friday’s clash.

In response, the Ghana Football Association has escalated the matter to local authorities, requesting a full investigation into the alleged robbery. The governing body is working closely with Austrian police to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

However, the situation has been complicated by the stance of the hotel management, who have reportedly denied that any break-in occurred on the premises. Adding to the uncertainty, claims have emerged that the facility’s CCTV system was not functioning at the time, making it difficult to verify events.

Despite the off-field disruption, the Black Stars are expected to maintain focus as they continue preparations for their upcoming friendly against Austria. The match forms part of Ghana’s build-up to future international competitions, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
