The Black Queens produced an impressive display on Friday evening, defeating Ampem Darkoa Ladies 4-0 as preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations gathered momentum.

Facing the reigning Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League champions, Ghana’s senior women’s national team demonstrated their attacking quality and tactical sharpness with a dominant performance from start to finish.

The Black Queens found the breakthrough through Evelyn Badu before Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah added a second to put the national side firmly in control. Stella Nyamekye and Mavis Owusu also got on the scoresheet to complete an emphatic four-goal victory.

Ampem Darkoa Ladies, one of the most successful clubs in Ghanaian women’s football and five-time national champions, struggled to cope with the intensity and attacking movement of the Black Queens throughout the contest.

The friendly served as another important test for coach Kim Lars Björkegren and his technical team as they continue to fine-tune their preparations ahead of WAFCON 2026. The match provided an opportunity to assess tactical plans, evaluate player combinations and build cohesion within the squad.

With the continental tournament approaching, the Black Queens have stepped up their training programme and are using such matches to sharpen their competitive edge before travelling to Morocco.

For Ampem Darkoa Ladies, the encounter also formed part of their preparations for the CAF Women’s Champions League WAFU B qualifiers scheduled to take place in Burkina Faso later this year.

Despite the defeat, the domestic champions will view the fixture as valuable preparation against some of the country’s best players as they gear up for their own continental assignment.

The result will undoubtedly please the Black Queens technical team, who continue to seek consistency and momentum as Ghana targets a strong campaign at WAFCON 2026 and aims to improve on its bronze-medal finish from the previous edition.
