Ghana women’s national under-20 football team will face a challenging Group C assignment at the upcoming FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup after the official draw was held on Friday, May 15.

The Black Princesses were paired with France, South Korea and Ecuador in what promises to be a competitive group.

The draw ceremony took place at the EC1 Cultural Center, one of the venues selected to host matches during the tournament in Poland.

The Black Princesses secured qualification for the tournament after defeating Uganda 3-2 on aggregate in the final qualifying round, extending Ghana’s impressive record to eight consecutive appearances at the global competition.

Among Ghana’s opponents, France arrive with considerable experience at this level. The Europeans will be participating in their 10th tournament appearance, with their best performance coming in 2016 when they finished runners-up.

South Korea are also no strangers to the competition and will be making their eighth appearance at the World Cup. Their strongest campaign came in 2010 when they secured a third-place finish — the same year Ghana made its debut at the tournament.

Ecuador complete Group C and will enter the competition as debutants, marking the South American nation’s first-ever appearance at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
