Black Maidens Gear Up for WAFU Zone B U-17 Girls Cup Opener Against Benin
Ghana’s Black Maidens are poised to begin their campaign in the maiden edition of the WAFU Zone B U-17 Girls Cup with a clash against Benin on Thursday, December 12, 2024. The highly anticipated encounter will take place at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.
Under the guidance of Coach Joe Nana Adarkwa, the team has been in intensive preparation for nearly two months, splitting their training sessions between Bibiani and Prampram. Speaking to Ghana Football Association’s media team, Coach Adarkwa shared insights into the team’s readiness and strategy.
“We have been in camp for about six weeks now, and so far, preparation is going well. We are ready for the tournament,” he stated.
While acknowledging the challenge of facing relatively unknown opponents, Coach Adarkwa expressed confidence in his team’s ability to adapt.
“As of now, I do not know much about our opponents, but as the competition progresses, we will assess them. The technical team has prepared thoroughly, and we are ready for any match to secure all points at stake.”
Coach Adarkwa also addressed the pressure of being the host nation, with expectations running high among Ghanaian supporters.
“There will definitely be pressure on us as hosts, and a lot of people will be expecting us to win. My girls are ready to play, and that’s the most important aspect of this tournament for me.”
