Black Maidens Face Senegal in Crucial First Leg of U-17 Women’s World Cup Qualifier
Ghana’s Black Maidens will be aiming to move one step closer to the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup when they take on Senegal in the first leg of the final qualifying round this evening.
With a place at the global tournament now just two matches away, the Black Maidens travel to Dakar knowing that a positive result on the road could provide a major advantage ahead of the return leg on home soil.
The highly anticipated encounter will be played at the Stade Léopold Sédar Senghor, with kick-off scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
Ghana have impressed throughout the qualification campaign, overcoming every challenge to reach the decisive stage of the African qualifiers. Another strong performance against Senegal would leave the Black Maidens in an excellent position to complete the job in the second leg and secure another appearance at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
The technical team has expressed confidence in the squad’s readiness after weeks of preparation, with the players eager to continue Ghana’s proud tradition in youth women’s football.
Senegal, however, are expected to provide a stern test in front of their home supporters. The hosts will be determined to build a first-leg advantage before travelling to Ghana for the return fixture.
For the Black Maidens, the objective will be to remain disciplined defensively while taking advantage of any opportunities in attack, knowing that an away result could prove decisive over the two-legged contest.
Qualification for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup would mark another significant achievement for Ghana’s thriving women’s football programme and reinforce the country’s reputation as one of Africa’s leading producers of young talent.
