Bashiru Hayford Questions Kotoko and Hearts’ Quality After Super Clash
Hearts of Lions head coach, Bashiru Hayford, has shared a candid assessment of Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak, following their recent Super Clash encounter.
Asante Kotoko beat Hearts of Oak 1-0 kind courtesy a goal from Albert Amoah in the 95th minute of the game.
Hayford, whose side remains the only team so far to have defeated both Kotoko and Hearts this season, did not hold back in his analysis of the two teams’ current standards.
“This season, I have beaten Hearts of Oak and Kotoko. My team is the only team this season to have done that,” he stated proudly, emphasizing his team’s unique achievement in the ongoing campaign.
However, the experienced tactician was critical of the overall quality of the two sides, suggesting they have lost some of their historical dominance.
“We saw the standard when they played. Both teams are not strong,” he said on Asempa FM.
Hayford further pointed out a specific defensive error by Hearts of Oak defender, Osei Assibey that led to the goal, describing it as avoidable and unnecessary.
“The manner in which the goal came about was not good. A central defender going in for a scissor kick at that point was not good. The best thing was to get in front of the striker so that the keeper could get the ball. You don’t have to do any antics.” He said.
For now, Bashiru Hayford and Hearts of Lions will enjoy their success while setting their sights on maintaining momentum as the season progresses.
