The Ghana Premier League match between Basake Holy Stars and Bechem United took an unexpected turn on Thursday as Bechem United failed to appear at the Ampain Sports Arena.

The ordeal began on Wednesday when Bechem’s team bus broke down, leaving players and officials stranded according to reports. Despite efforts to repair the vehicle, all attempts proved unsuccessful.

Acknowledging the severity of their situation, Bechem United promptly informed the Ghana Football Association (GFA) of their inability to travel. To substantiate their claim, the club submitted hotel reservation receipts, demonstrating their intention to participate in the fixture under normal circumstances.

In their communication with the GFA, Bechem United appealed for a postponement, citing the unforeseen nature of their challenges.

Despite the club’s plea, the GFA maintained its stance that the match must proceed as scheduled. The decision left Bechem United with no viable alternative but to forfeit the game.

Basake Holy Stars and the match officials adhered to league regulations, arriving at the Ampain Sports Arena in anticipation of the fixture. With Bechem United failing to show up, the regulations dictated the outcome.

In line with the Ghana Premier League’s rules, Basake Holy Stars have been awarded three points and three goals for the matchday 15 fixture.
