Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko have expressed deep concern following the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury sustained by key midfielder Andrews Ntim Manu, describing it as a major blow ahead of a crucial season.

In an official club statement released on Tuesday, July 1, the Porcupine Warriors revealed that the injury occurred during last month’s MTN FA Cup final clash against Golden Kick. The 25-year-old midfielder is expected to undergo surgery in the coming days.

“This is undoubtedly a significant setback for both the player and the club as we begin preparations for the CAF Confederation Cup as well as the new league season,” the statement read.

“Andrews was the lynchpin of our midfield last season, demonstrating his exceptional commitment and quality on the pitch.”

The club further pledged its unwavering support for the player during his recovery.

“Everyone at Asante Kotoko SC stands firmly behind Andrews during this difficult period,” the club assured.

The injury comes as a major blow to Kotoko’s pre-season plans as the club prepares for a return to continental competition. Ntim Manu played an instrumental role in the midfield last season and was seen as a key figure in the team’s upcoming CAF Confederation Cup campaign.

Initial medical reports suggest that Ntim Manu will be sidelined for up to nine months, effectively ruling him out of most, if not all, of the 2025/26 football season.
